I woke up to a lovely surprise the other day, when I found out Scott Lynch (author of phenomenal The Lies of Locke Lamora) had read Strange Beasts and posted about it on Blue Sky! He called it “rad as hell” and “fucking awesome, uncorking a phantasmagorical 19th century Paris that seethes with “gritty depth, as explored by an ever-more-delightful sapphic pair. At least one passage, in the bitter voice of Helena Moriarty (daughter of that Moriarty), is in the tiny pantheon of best sentences I’ve ever read.”
Pardon me while I just reread that last line a few times! (Any guesses on which sentence??)
